When Is the Best Time to Detail Your Car in Tennessee?
Spring pollen, summer bugs, fall leaves, winter salt — when each season hits hardest and how to plan your detailing.
Tennessee weather is hard on cars year-round. Knowing what each season throws at your paint helps you plan when to detail.
Spring: pollen season
Pollen is acidic and bonds to clear coat in humid weather. Get a full detail after pollen season ends (usually mid-May) to remove buildup and re-protect the paint.
Summer: bugs, sap, and UV
Bug splatter etches paint within hours in summer heat. Tree sap is even worse. Wax breaks down faster under UV — consider ceramic coating before summer hits.
Fall: leaves and tannins
Wet leaves left on paint leach tannins that stain clear coat. A late-fall detail clears it before winter sets in.
Winter: salt and grit
Road salt eats undercarriages and paint. A winter detail with sealant adds a sacrificial barrier and keeps salt from bonding.
If you only detail twice a year, do it in late spring (after pollen) and late fall (before salt). If you can do it four times — once each season — your car will outlast and outshine almost everyone else's on the road.
